Holy Family takes special pride in the Appalachian Trail Hostel, located on church grounds. It provides a covered shelter to hikers traveling through our area. It is a popular stop-over for hikers to spend a night or two indoors, enjoy a hot shower, use the kitchen to cook a meal, and have easy access to restaurants, a laundromat, the post office and a grocery store. Over 400 hikers a year stop and stay in the Holy Family Hostel.
Our ministry to hikers began in the early 1970s, when Father Charles Beausoleil invited them to rest overnight in the parish hall. In the summer of 1977 the "barn" arrived on the parish grounds and became the Holy Family Hostel.
